About Plucky

Our Mission

To empower those rare human beings who want more distance between themselves and the Internet, who lack Vulcan-level self-control.

The name Plucky is derived from the word pluck, which means "courage and determination in the face of adversity." It is also an allusion to the pluck-eye principle.

CORE VALUES

(who we wish we were)

Serve God, not money

Money is not the driving force behind our decisions.

Seek God’s kingdom first

The kingdom of God is our bottom line.

Love our neighbors as ourselves

We try not to treat people as commodities for our gain.

Put others first

We try to avoid competition and self-promotion at another's expense

Point to Jesus

A filter can't save anybody, but Jesus can.

Jon Wilkes

Founder

Single Eye Software was founded by Jon Wilkes, a guy who just barely managed to graduate from Harvey Mudd College a long time ago. Jon worked in the software industry for several years, but after awhile he quit his job to look for an occupation that had a better retirement plan, ideally one that extended beyond the grave. Being well acquainted with the lure of the Internet and the real-life damage of Bad Internet, Jon created Plucky (then Pluckeye), a radical image-blocking filter based on self-control.

Since 2015, Jon has worked full time on Plucky, trying to make it available to anyone who needs it. Jon lives near Tacoma, Washington with his wife, Kristin, and their three children.

If you are looking for a job with a truly unbelievable retirement program, and you think you'd be a good fit, drop us a line!

Builders

Pornography is too big of a problem for companies to waste time competing. This is why Jon is a founding member of Builders (xbuilders.org), an alliance of Christian technical companies who fight porn. The Builders tenets:
